Tum2Mom attended a Mom’s and Dad’s First Aid Course at Alderson Ambulance Services and we will be loading one short First Aid clip every Tuesday onto our YouTube Channel. In our first video clip, Alan Hattingh, a paramedic from Alderson Ambulance Services, imparts invaluable advice on when to call an ambulance and what information the paramedics will need from you.
In our second video Alan gives a demonstration to show you what to do if your baby is choking. Read our article on choking and find out how to prevent accidental choking’s.
While it's good for parents to watch and learn from these videos, it's important to note that viewing them doesn't constitute formal CPR training. We strongly recommend that all parents and caregivers go on an official CPR training course.

Breaking News! Tum2Mom is launching an Immunisation Email Reminder Service (IERS) today, 2 May 2012. We have been working on it for a number of months now. We noticed that the most downloaded document on the website was the immunisation schedule. So to make life that much easier for you, you can subscribe to the IERS in order to get reminders to take your little one for his latest shot. The emails provide background information about the vaccinations; lists possible side effects and offers some tried-and-tested tips on how you can soothe baby after the jab. Illness and accidents are a part of everyday life. It can be a nerve-wracking, frightening and very stressful experience, especially the first time round. You want to help your child, ease their discomfort and pain, but you are not sure if you can do it yourself or if you need to rush off to the closest Dr or Casualty. First Aid is about using your common sense, and being prepared, to help your child. Here are some guidelines for you to follow if you need to help someone in an emergency situation. Most poisonings occur at home, in children under the age of 6. Poisoning occurs when a harmful substance is inhaled or swallowed, spilt on the skin, or sprayed or splashed in the eye.
